Just Doing It!

You need to accept that you won’t be as good at doing something new at the very beginning. This means you need to become an amateur again. The word amateur comes from the Latin word amare which means to be a lover of something.

It’s wonderful to find or rediscover your love for an activity or subject area. It’s profoundly powerful to uncover a deep sense of meaning and purpose when you engage in an activity. It is both satisfying and deeply effective to uncover your love for a particular activity.

That’s why it’s important to just do it! It won’t be perfect. It won’t be impressive but by starting something it will certainly be done. And if you do something consistently and regularly with a deep sense of meaning and love the world will one day acknowledge your effort.

There are 3 types of love that will take your skills and abilities to the next level

  1. Agape: to love what you do with no conditions ie sometimes you won’t get paid but you will do it exceptionally well without or without remuneration.
  2. Pragma: do whatever you need to do dutifully. Remember if you don’t do it who are you expecting to do it. Love practically by doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done.
  3. Philia: do it in the service of another person. Though it means so much to you, love doing it for other people. Therein lies the true power of love, that you are willing to give the best that you have to improve another person’s life.

“Love will find a way through paths where wolves fear to prey.”
— Lord Byron

With love as your engine and your fuel take the next step to learn, grow and serve in this world.
